Columbo (who played Peter Falk in real life) has died, and the world is a little poorer.

On the 24th of June every year, if you miss him, make a habit of stopping as you're half-way out the door, turning back and saying "Just one more thing..."

R.I.P. Columbo.

       How can anyone hate Columbo?
MaxwellBuchanan, Jun 24 2011

Just watched my favorite episode in his honor. "Negative Reaction" where he tricks the guy into identifying the camera the murderer used.

Oh... and uh... just one more thing.

As an auditor, Columbo mode is one of my favorite tools. Too useful to pass up, too fun to resist.

Oh, and just one other thing: You could also call it Porfiry Petrovich mode. Dostoyevsky, so I was once told, invented the character of Columbo.

I always thought it was G. K. Chesterton with the Father Brown mysteries?

Can we start random conversations about a never seen, make-believe wife?
Dub, Jun 25 2011

The make-believe wife of a fictional character. Do you suppose Columbo's wife had an imaginary friend as a child?

I have a croissant for you... I know I've got it here somewhere, just bear with me for a second...oh, I've got to pay that... Well, don't worry, I'm sure it will turn up. I'm terribly sorry to bother you, Mr. Buchanan.

There's just one thing I don't quite understand about this.....
gnomethang, Jun 30 2011

I was talking to my wife, Mrs. Phundug, and she reminded me that Jackie Gleason also died on June 24. Mr. Buchanan, I don't know how Columbo Day can be June 24 when June 24 is already Jackie Gleason day. No sir, I just don't know how you're going to explain that.
