The coffee table mantlet is a coffee table on large wooden wheels that looks very innocent.
However when a sofa fort is established people can lift off the top of the table, preserving whatever was on it, and unfold the base into a padded mantlet (a wheeled shield that provides cover from missiles
during sieges). Kids can then wheel the mantlet back and forward, being careful to avoid carpet moats.
