I was thinkng about those strange theory of the magnets on the fuel line and my logic went like this.

Maybe there something in it but the magnets are to passive. How can I get more magnetic field motion? Rotate the magnets around the line. A bearing with magnets attached would be good. How do I get the bearing on without any fuss?

How about a bearing with a strong cage that has two balls missing and the cage crimped off. This gives the cage a c shape with rest of the ball bearings acting as normal. The outside rim would also be a c shape. If aligned, the c would be open and could be slipped onto a pipe or line.

Of course this bearing would only be as strong as the materials that made the c's as the bearing needs to hold it's shape to track properly.

There is a vein of specious pseudosience, related to the "magnetic water softener" theory, that asserts that hydrocarbon fuels can be improved by passing them through a strong magnetic field prior to combustion - it's supposed to "align the molecules" or something.

It is, like all such theories, complete and utter cack, in the same class as snake oil and crystal therapy.

Dear gods. It is always horrifying how many people have their own little Dark Ages going on between their ears.

Everybody knows that it's the _colour_ of the fuel lines that's important, because the light inside the fuel lines can then resonate with the quantum states of the hydrogen-carbon bonds to pre-load them with additional energy. MaxCo. offers a range of appropriately coloured, internally-illuminated replacement fuel lines for those seeking better fuel economy and performance. Prices start at £99.99.

Seriously, with so many idiots out there, anyone with a scientific background and some credentials ought to be able to skim off phenomenal amounts of money.

Is that why your family bought you that phoney online doctorate, then ?

Given the number of paternity suits you've (unsuccessfully) defended, that's undeniable.

Here a question, chemistry states the perfect propotions for a chemical reaction but what is the perfect molecular positions for the reaction? Mixing plays a very big part so will it be possible to position molecules at the correct intermolecular distances for a reaction in a specific chamber?

Anyway that's all hypothetical, What about the C-bearing?

[bigsleep] but how do you get the stepper motor centred on the lamppost? Next to it is easy.
wjt, Jul 25 2016

       1. Lift up lamppost.

       2. Place motor over hole where lamppost fits.

       3. Lower lamp post through motor and back into hole.

Now, that wasn't difficult, was it ?

       Magnetic pseudo-science aside, a C-clamp bearing is a good idea. [+]
