Christmas Boa

Wearable Christmas wreath

I just saw a Christmas card (yeah, it's August, I know), showing a reindeer with a Christmas wreath around its neck. And that set me thinking.

Now, a real Christmas wreath would be hard to get on and off, having no opening, and awfully scratchy to wear, even before the pine needles dried out.

So, I propose the Christmas Boa: a wrap made out of soft lightweight materials (some R&D needed here, I admit), fashioned in the shape of pine fronds, mingled with holly and mistletoe, soft baubles, and twinkling Christmas lights (probably LEDs for light weight and low power). The batery pack (4 AA's, light enough to carry) would be hidden in the back, carefully cushioned for comfort.

All the while, the wreath would give of the fragrant Christmassy aroma of forest pines, fresh cinnamon, eggnog, roast chesnuts, hot chocolate or mulled cider. (Thanks, Fishrat!)

And you, I and Farmer John can go carolling, snug in these warm and cosy seasonal collars. Though, unlike the stationery stores, I think we will wait until December for that.

Like it - any chance of creating a spicy seasonal whiff to go with it? +

I'll join you if we leave out "Don we now our gay apparel...".

       I love it!

Sorry [DrC] but I gotta fishbone this. The constant exploitation of Christmas is something to be deplored. Neither twinkling lights nor pine scented plastic has anything to do with Christmas. Could you rename the (otherwise excellent) idea "Xmas Boa"?

Just the three of you? Not very barbershop.

I love christmas but I think all those christmasy decorations/clothes are over rated. I'm sorry but I'll have to give this one a fish too: anything making christmas more cliché and less "the real feeling" can't be good.

I pictured a large snake with lights and tinsel (giggle)

[DrC] cute idea, probably baked but it's too early to shop for links,

As if reindeer antler headbands and christmas tree light earrings weren't bad enough. But I would definitely love to stand across the street from where 3 men in boas (green and red feathers, please) with baubles and lights are singing carols and heckle them mercilessly.
