Cell tower watch

No need to keep time when you can always check.

One nifty thing that cell phones do is keep time. Some are just watches, but some keep time by means of a signal broadcast by the cell phone towers. This is apparently free, and so I deduce that one could have a powered up cell phone which told the time even though there was no service contract with a cell phone company. This method of telling time is nice, especially if you travel across time zones, because you do not need to reset the time.

The Cell tower watch tells time by this method. It is smaller than a phone because it does not need all the phone guts, just the connection with the tower.

It would be cool to have a digital display style tower clock like Big Ben.

No problem with the idea just how much you could make selling it. Since it would only work where your cell phone works you would not be able to keep time outside of a service provider.

[Antegrity], that's not a problem for anyone living in Europe or pretty much any city globally. However, how about this is just an add on to the normal watch functionality, whereby it keeps time on its own, but is synched any time it wanders into a cell tower signal.
Another bunworthy product from bung co. (+)

Ahh, the sharp sting of disappointment. I was expecting some kind of special detail guarding the prisoners in London Tower.

What time is it on a dividing line between time zones? Depends which tower answers the request? Nice idea. +

I was expecting that this idea was about using cell towers as lookout positions... In Alabama, they double as deer stands.
