Might work if the cloth pages were impregnated with smells that cats would find interesting. Kind of like a feline storybook.

Yeah...me either. It makes my brain hurt.

Cats--especially those who must stay indoors--are very interested in the smell of other cats. This book would retain the smells of the many cats who rubbed against it or marked it. From personal experience, I think it would be more entertaining than catnip.

Now I get it, nils. Sort of like a visitor's book for cats.

I can understand where you're coming from, but most likely the cat'll sniff it for a while, rub against it, and then get disinterested. Plus, it's be hard to get someone to check it out for the first time knowing that there aren't any cat smells in it. I could also imagine someone being a little too worried about their cat ripping it to shreds and having to pay for it to take it out.

My library smells enough like ass from the dirty homeless people. Don't need it to smell like cat too. [-]

[blissmiss] I am being kinder...that whole thing about homeless people and whatnot was just a bit of humor. The rest of that last anno was just my opinion.
