If I were to hit a badger or somesuch entity whilst driving, it would be a minor weight off my mind to know that the vehicle I drove helped in some way to ameliorate the situation.
So,
1) piezo-electric bits in the bumpers and in the crumple zone,
2) regenerative power from the braking before
hitting said badger
3) small turbines (possibly the Tesla fluid pump design) in the shock absorbers for the bump of running the thing over and so on,
all going into a capacitor, so the crematorium has to use less gas to get to the right temperature.
Works with humans, presumably.

Direct utilization is more efficient than storage. That way if I were to hit a small child, the car would potentially speed up afterwards, provided I didn't damage the radiator too badly. |

Radiators can be expensive, be careful there, big guy. |

But anyway,it could also apply to the driver, if terminal crash managed to turn kinetic energy to electricity. |

A bit redundant for ICE engines as they already have a handy supply of self-cremation fluid in the tank, but maybe useful for electric powered cars? |

Instead of killing the animals and children in front of your vehicle, why not have a scoop that scoops them up and depsoits them in a compartment fitted with a treadmill? Then they can contribute to powering your vehicle as long as they have enough energy. |

Why would you not want to do that? |

I can see that getting a little recursive, as they then run to avoid the secondary set of wheels. ...as the descendants of the original scooped-up-ees continue to run as they pass on the oral myths of the vehicle-world they live in... |
