Half a croissant, on a plate, with a sign in front of it saying '50c'

The word "How?" springs to mind at this point.

Car Bus

Bet they already have this someplace. Inspired by Dignium's car trailer idea

A car carrier specifically outfitted to allow cars to drive on and off individually. On one side of the vehicle is a narrow seating compartment where the passengers sit. There are bathroom facilities, vending machines etc.

These vehicles travel long haul routes between major cities. They drive your car on, you sit in the sidecar area and relax. When they arrive at your general area, they pull over, remove your car, you get in and drive away.

One example. [8th of 7, Feb 11 2016]

[+] One could see it operating during rush hours in big cities: drive to one of several big major intersections and wait in comfort for the carbus. Suggested are large malls: the outlying areas of their expansive parking lots see little use during the week.

Could do it with a freight train style affair as well.

British Rail used to have exactly that system, branded as "Motorail" <link>.

It was not a commercial success. Neither was Motorail.

Yea, the car carrier / bus is the better option.

But what if you wanted to carry the Car Bus somewhere? You'd need a Car Bus Truck...

At a certain point, inventing a mode of transport to carry a mode of transport to carry people becomes a bit odd.

So what if a person on roller blades sits down on a disability scooter and drives it into a handicap accessible van, which loads on a car bus, which loads onto a ferry, which is lifted by a floating dry dock and moved around with tug boats?

Then that person might say, "Stop the world - I wanna get off"
