It's time we let Junior really know where hamburger comes from.
To ease the pain of transition into the real world, buy him a Prime Cut Plushie. This soft squishy plushie-cow looks at you with large adorable eyes, as you pull it apart.
Sectioned off into quarters, such as sirloin and short loin,
shank and brisket, the cow is held together with velcro. Little white circles denote where bones have been "cut through".
Each cut has a little label with the name of the cut, and a little tag describing various stuff such fat content, nutrition values, average cost per pound, etc.
Dissassemble the cow, explain the circle of life, and reassemble it into a Picowso. Just don't add in any electricity, because a Frankenstein's Monster Plushie Picasso Cow is a dangerous thing.
Also comes in pig, deer, and for foriegn countries, dog.

For a slightly less gross introduction to the same life facts, I recommend a children's book called 'Yum Yum' (sorry, can't remember the author), showing a series of cute members of the food web eating each other in turn. |
