It's time we let Junior really know where hamburger comes from.

To ease the pain of transition into the real world, buy him a Prime Cut Plushie. This soft squishy plushie-cow looks at you with large adorable eyes, as you pull it apart.

Sectioned off into quarters, such as sirloin and short loin, shank and brisket, the cow is held together with velcro. Little white circles denote where bones have been "cut through".

Each cut has a little label with the name of the cut, and a little tag describing various stuff such fat content, nutrition values, average cost per pound, etc.

Dissassemble the cow, explain the circle of life, and reassemble it into a Picowso. Just don't add in any electricity, because a Frankenstein's Monster Plushie Picasso Cow is a dangerous thing.

Also comes in pig, deer, and for foriegn countries, dog.

Your Beef Diagram 2 link begs two questions: One, why would you subject us to a link with so many pernicious pop-ups? And, two, why do you suppose Area 14 is identified as a Mouse Buttock, and how will you explain that bit of malapropism to your toddler?

I'm basically in favour of this, with a slight reservation about accustoming the child to kill and eat the same thing he's been cuddling.

For a slightly less gross introduction to the same life facts, I recommend a children's book called 'Yum Yum' (sorry, can't remember the author), showing a series of cute members of the food web eating each other in turn.

You probably mean "Yum-Yum!" by Mick Manning and Brita Granstrom. (Not to be confused with "The Big Yum Yum Book" by Robert Crumb, a fairy tale about a frog and a very large woman with very large thighs and big buttocks.)

       Yes I do, thank you.

What? Deer and dog cuts, but no lamb or rabbit cuts? Come on, I can get goat's meat year round at the corner market! You need to diversify. Throw in some turkey, chicken, and peacock while you're at it.

Ducks make good toys and delicious meals.

(That is, they taste delicious - and have no cooking/toymaking abilities that I am aware of).
