Use remote sensing to discover high concentrations of nitrogen | |
Recent improvements in electromagnetic spectrum remote sensing
allows us to do all kinds of nifty things like finding previously
undiscovered oil deposits for the mining industry and checking
nitrogen levels for agriculture (see link).
I propose that checking city streets for unusually high
levels of
nitrogen will trigger a heck of a lot of fertiliser false positives, but
might be somehow refined to make the public safer.
Since this is the halfbakery, I propose the refinement needs to be
done by training an army of ninja monkeys to become spectral
analysis experts on their ninja-monkey-union mandated Saturday
afternoons off.
Remote sensing is cool

I'm going to assume you mean ammonium nitrate, since
nitrogen itself is as harmless as it is ubiquitous. |

Ah, that's just what they want you to think, Ok, give me one example of a someone who died, who was never exposed to nitrogen? See? |
|
|
The Dark Lord Sauron was never exposed to nitrogen, and
He died. It was in all the papers. |
|
|
But look at what it took to kill Him! Clearly, the One Ring was the lynch-pin in his distributed nitrogen-shielding force field network. |

By the way, the linked article refers to the detection of nitrogen stress (which affects the spectral reflectance of plants), not the detection of nitrogen per se. The title would be less misleading if spelled out as "Remote Sensing to Detect Nitrogen Stress and Water Stress in Wheat". |

What happens if the would-be terrorists develop
some advanced shielding technology such as, say, a
plastic bag? |
|
|
And what about ammonites? How are those suppose to show up? |
|
|
Bus, train, aeroplane...ammonites ride most mass transit
for free. |

Which inexorably leads to someone faking up fossilised milk-cartons. On the side of the carton is a blurry photo of a cephalopod, saying "Have you seen Asteroceras? Call 1-800..." |
