Just like regular Christmas lights, but with black-light bulbs
in
them, to make stuff glow. The varieties would expand,
naturally, to include all the standard variations of Christmas
lights: indoor, outdoor, small, large, blinking, chasing,
musical,
icicle, etc.
Just imagine your house
surrounded by cool, glowing snow!
Or apply special black-light paints to your tree and make it
a
punky Christmas. Besides the drastically different holiday
applications, the strings of black-lights could be draped in
dormrooms or party areas or anywhere your heart desires.
Use them any time you want. I might try them around
Christmas though, just because I'm tired of the same-ol'-
same-ol' boring Christmas decorations. I like to be different.
Perhaps these would be for those seeking the unusual, like
myself.

Might be better suited to halloween, I don't normally associate the freakish glowing of highlighters in my house with christmas... |

There are some incandescent blacklights that give off largely UV, but they run EXTREMELY hot. Probably not a good idea on a Christmas tree. |
|
|
What will make blacklight Christmas lights bakeable will be the invention of a reasonably-priced ultraviolet LED. Not invented yet, but give it a decade and who knows... |
|
|
"Hey man, where'd you get that nice tan?" "Oh, Christmas at home." |
|
|
Would an LED make a useful blacklight? LED's are nearly monochromatic. It seems to me that you would want a broad band of UV wavelengths to increase the likelihood of pairing the right electron with the right photon having the right energy to make fluorescence happen. Or am I missing something here? |

Why didn't I think of this??? This year, that angel on top is gonna radiate... |

Planar YAG lasers operating in the UV band are being sampled to a lucky few by A Major Manufacturer, and UV LEDs based on GaAsP are already commercially available. See link.
Can give you a nasty burn, too. |

This would be awesome on white-flocked Christmas trees. Conservative and tasteful during the day, wack-daddy at night. |
|
|
Would make the skeleton costumes more fun. And people thought I was wierd last christmas when I wore mine... |
|
|
I consider Christmas stringed lights to be everyday lights. I have a string that serves as a subtle lighting effect for behind a tv dedicated to videogame play in my loft. I only wish it was equipped to shine black-light instead of plain old white. |

Spencer's Gifts sells these exactly as described. Dip your christmas tree in liquid tide before putting the blacklights on it. |

My friend has fairy lights in her room instead of normal lights, they look cool. They'd be even cooler if they were black lights. |

The six o'clock news would be bitchin if it was done in blacklight like those made-in-hollywood newscasts from the frontlines that we're accustomed to. |
|
|
Imagine those creepy moving lawn reindeer decorated in these lights! |
|
|
I already have a Patent with The United States Patent Office on this product. They will be due out in stores by Next year. |

Really? Any chance I could get a cut of the profits (or at least a complimentary set)? :) |

I am looking for black light stringed Christmas Lights, we have a white tree and I already string my ornament balls together and hang from celing, as to keep the animals from destroying them. We also use party favor blower noise makers that have bright shiny streamers on them, looks great with the tinsel and icycles. The light are a must have, let me know when I can purchase them. PLEASE |

[btb101457]: Could you post a link to a photo of your decorations? I don't know if the description could do it justice. |

If Piss fluoresces, then that would be fun. |
