Belly button lint trap

Catch their eye with burning lint

Imagine a world where men and women all wore hot, ecological, diode-display baubles in their lower concave extremeties. Yes, all that is possible and more.

As the lint from your shirt cascades towards the body's natural lint trap, a blinking lint trap bauble affixed in your navel will catch it and burn the lint in its eternal fires, in order to light another round of bauble light displays.

Why? (you ask). I put it to you that such technology might have prolonged the life of Gareth Hughes, Byssinosis victim, although possibly not the billions of mask wearers on this planet.

Burning it seems such a waste of a precious and useful resource

Interesting. Any relation to Howard Hughes?

//and burn the lint in its eternal fires// - I'd prefer it if the lint were collected over several years, and made into a sort of fabric from which a nice garment could be created (EDIT: Damn! I'm now coming up with what I think are new ideas which I in fact had years ago (link))

Of you infuse with saliva, roll into a ball and plant in good soil it will grow. It's then known as a succulent.

Apparently lint is a good, lightweight and compressible product to use as tinder on hiking and camping trips. There's a market!

Lint's only a good fire starter if it's from mostly plant based fibers. Synthetic or wool don't work well.

And even with 100% cotton/linen lint, I've had very little luck with it with flint and steel. The fibers are so short that the time between a spark catching and burning out is too short to do much of anything.

If you're using matches, then it's probably great.
