Education made fun by replacing the colorful monkeys of the popular children's game with colorful likenesses of historical luminaries.

Advanced play would involve the challenge of linking them in ascending or descending chronological order or groups of geographical relevence.

For those who, like me, had no idea what he was on about. [angel, Jun 22 2001, last modified Oct 21 2004]

It might be easier than you think. [bookworm, Jun 22 2001, last modified Oct 21 2004]

This could really lengthen the active life of the toy. Younger children could just throw them around and bash them against each other and choke on them; older ones could play complicated fill-in-the-chain games -- "Claudius Gothicus to Harriet Tubman in only three figures! That's 1100 points!" -- and also stage wrestling matches with them. (The chain game could combine the barrel o' figures with a regular one of monkeys for games involving contemporary political figures or extending over very long time frames.)

What an absolutely *wicked-awesome* idea! Croissant for you, sir.

[Monkfish] Nice extension to the idea.

Now, if you could figure out how to make Sea Monkeys with historical figures' faces, I'd be doing backflips...

Thank you angel. I understand now.

what might be amusing (although a little reminiscent of planet-o-the-apes) is to have the monkeys with faces of historical figures...all the educational benefits and humor too! whee!

Ummm...Urania, did you read the idea?
StarChaser, Aug 14 2001

um, in hindsight i don't even remember posting that, so apparently not :)... i was at best half-asleep, at worse fully asleep and in denial...

[StarChaser] I think what Urania was suggesting was having monkey bodies with historical faces. That's different from the posted idea.
