I have seen some fantastic machinery in different factories producing complicated products with precision and speed.

I propose we take some of these mechanisms and automate them to blow the correct amount of air into a balloon, then to have soft tipped pincers to pinch the balloon in the correct place and a set that hold/grab the balloon and twist it. Insert some xyz-axis technology and whamo, you've got a machine that does what we thought only a face-painting party clown knew how to do: create balloon animals.

This vending machine would also need a noise sensor so that if the balloon does pop while in sequence, the machine attempts to create another.

Nice. Bonus if it can do it using robotic white gloved Mickey-Mouse hands.

If I clap my hands really loudly, will the sensor give me another balloon?
RayfordSteele, Jul 02 2007

Make them helium balloons (possible?) and instead of dropping into a vending tray, they can float out the top of the machine.

Waaah! Why does my balloon porcupine keep popping?

[jaksplat] If you don't post a waterballoon vending machine I will. It could also despense creme pies and woopie cusions for other shenanigans.

Don't defocus the idea, you'll only get boned for doing just another vending machine. Stay with waterballoons and go mad with it.

This is damned clever. There's no way a parent with a kid could pass this without buying one. Nor would they want to.

I love this idea! There should be an interactive balloon animal builder interface where you mix different shapes and colors - something like EA's creature builder. +1 on white-gloved robotic hands so it can reach out and hand you the final product.
