I'm sure [Hippo] is a far more rounded individual than me, but if he had my demons he'd be glued to the halfbakery, obsessing about the fact that one of his ideas is just one vote short of the big 7-0.
Obviously, I'm envious of his humungous 69 votes, but to me it seems sad that he can't get
that extra vote to take "small piece of paper with 3 4-digit numbers written on it" upto the next milestone. I've already voted, so I can't help. The same is true for [Futurebird]'s "Nightshift Towers".
This is my ode to all 'bakers in a similar predicament, set to the tune of Bryan Adams' Summer of '69.
He got his first real laptop
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Typed ideas till his fingers bled
He was the baker of '69
Hippo sat and thought a while
Had an idea and he baked real hard
Found some paper with some numbers on
So that the fraudsters couldn't use his card
Oh when I look back now
That idea took off so damn fast
And if I had the choice
I'd give it two warm croissants
It was the best he'd ever baked***
Ain't no use in complainin'
Once you've got a bun or two
You taste success but then the voting stops
And theres nothing left for you to do
Sitting at his screen that night
He knew that he could wait forever
He kept on staring at the recent screen
He knew that it was now or never
It was the best hed ever baked***
His votes are stuck on '69
Man we were killin' time
We were young and restless (ahem)
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever - forever, no
And now the votes arent changin'
Look at the annos that have come and gone
Sometimes when he taps that old keyboard
He thinks about it wonderin what went wrong
Sitting at his screen that night
He thought its 69 forever
Hed love to get just one more vote
He knew that it was now or never
It was the best he'd ever baked***
His votes are stuck on '69

Technically, its not the best he ever baked. Film Noir House had many more votes, and I personally prefer Hippos Silent Dodgy Windchimes
