Toilet roll where the perforations don't go straight across. This should leave a pointy bit that is more likely to stick out. Making it easier to find when you have your hand up inside the nether regions of the dispenser.

       That is actually a bloody good idea. Not sure how much it would help in finding the end, but a regular bathroom loo roll would look nicer if the flappy end had a point or an elegant curve.

       It seems like this would also reduce the overlap of the perforations if you fold over two layers, reducing the risk of getting dirty fingers.
