Digitized pictures are processed with an Associative Spectrum, creating impressions which are (highly) morphologically similar. However, instead of hues creating the sense of form and depth within the picture, emotional-symbology is used to shape and define the new impression.
Where there were
regions of coloration, there are replaced assemblies of emotional-symbols, mathematically conforming to the space priorly occupied by coloration. As each symbol represents a gradient of hue, the assemblies of emotional-symbology will be represented in various sizes and formations, most being quite minute: each picture will be a vast swarm of interconnected associative-emotional-symbols, morphed and blending into a massively reticulated impressionistic composite. This is, of course, dependent upon the development of the Associative Spectrum used.
The pictures can be displayed either with or without color; it is a simple matter of either attributing or removing the associated symbol-hue.

Would this serve any clinical purpose or is it art? |

[Trodden]: The Associograph provides a vessel from which to depict a symbolic 'coloration' of an individual's Associative Spectrum; thus it is an application of the art of AS to create a new, and highly personal, interpretation of an already existing image. The therapeutic value of the Associograph is entirely up to the intent of the creator/interpreter. |
|
|
[phoenix]: The comparison of an Associograph to a Photomosaic is illegitimite: Photomosaics are constructed from a (sometimes) thematic resource which consists of material that (loosely) conforms to the hue necessary for a pattern recognition; Associographs are imprinted with a created, higly individualized, symbolic spectrum which conforms to fine variations of hue within a picture. |

*keeps reading, hoping that some glint of recognition will land in his head. Nope. Gotta read the links. |

[jutta]: Ah, but this is the point of creating the AS: To connect and cohere disparate elements within an interpretive medium. This is about translating a form of cognizable perception and reprocessing the information into a medium which doesn't necessarily make coherent sense. (Thus, ten violent images do not necessarily contribute to ten gradients of the proxy range of 'Red'.) |

The 'blur of images', as you describe, would indeed require deciphering, but I imagine this process to be akin to reading. After some intensive study, an individual could develop enough familiarity with interpretive assessments of the symbological palette to consciously apprehend the emotional-symbological gestalt of the proxy color bands of the AS. Then, to progress from cognizing the gestalt of proxy color bands, the matter of apprehending the gestalten of the interactions between proxy color bands, and so forth until thematic subject can be interpreted. |

[reensure]: Photomosaics are not at all what [idyll] wished to represent here. I was aware of photomosiacs before this idea was posted. Such are not what I am trying to represent or portray. [phoenix] misunderstood the idea, though I fault myself for not expressing this idea with enough clarity. |
