Until the savior of our planet, a massive 6 story tall
monster
dog runs into the fray and eats them all. Earth is saved!
Because these are actually alien invader shaped dog
treats,
about the size of plastic army men. Kids set them up in
battle
formations like regular plastic army men,
then call in
Fido to
save the day by gobbling them up.
Fido may wonder why everybody is cheering wildly while
he
snarfs down his delicious dog treats, but he'll know he's
doing
a good thing.
(the dog isn't really 6 stories tall, you'd just pretend)

6 story tall dogs would be cool. Live a little. |

Has someone just volunteered to be a squeaky chew toy? |

Newfoundlands are gentle and sociable, but because of that they often want to sit on human's laps. Having done it as a puppy, they are unable to understand why their expression of affection is a problem when they reach 60 or 70kg in mass... |

I can see raising and training 6 story dog to 'want' me to stay on their back much more easily than I can picture training a 6 story horse to want to do the same. |
|
|
...also, a 6 story horse isn't going to fetch me a deer or protect me from a predator. |

Someday, when we colonize other planets, we'll find out that we only shrunk these 'pet' species so that they could accompany us as we spore. |
|
|
Then they'll get big again... or even smaller depending on where we cash. |

There's a SciFi story in which the chosen companion animals for humans colonizing a planet with a dangerous local life-form are domesticated bears. |
|
|
It's a credible scenario in that hand-reared bear cubs do become very tame if treated properly, although a playful adult bear can unintentionally injure a human with ease. Carefully selective breeding could easily produce a line of house-bears, just as dogs have been domesticated from wild wolves. |
