Ever seen an ad on TV, and thought the music was nice? Well I have. What we need is a website where you give the time, date, channel when the ad appeared, and it tells you what the music was.
It needs a joint effort from the TV companies, who know the scheduling, and the ad agencies, who know the
music. The whole lot would be funded by the ad agencies (who get more ad space on the site).

Yes! It took me a while to find out that the song on one of the Nissan Maxima commercials was 'She Sells Sanctuary'. It would've been nice to know whether the song was done by The Cult, The Clash, or The Cure, though- I didn't get a correct answer from anyone I asked. (Had to look it up...) |

Click on search and then you can list all ads alphabetically and it tells you the music and the voice overs for each ad. |

I've had someone look at how the background music affects the stickiness of adverts on websites. You can alter tempo and congruity as main factors. Could be taken to extremes I suppose. Funeral home advert with the "Laughing policeman" as the background music. |

Using your logic, [nil], I could argue that movie theme music is not music but just a mere contrivance used to fill out the time under the opening title sequence and closing credits. Music is music. |

Also well worth trying for ads and song info. Screens lots of ads - very fast viewing and good quality. Better than any other I have found. Its free too; adcritic now subscription only. |
