Accounting and tax system for machine readable receipts

Scan your reciepts into a tax program.

Assuming that all reciepts were somehow machine readable with an amount and a tax catagory [link], and coded with standard information. why not scan all your reciepts directly into your computer for tax and accounting purposes?

       Well, the ATM can apparently read my handwriting, which always surprises me, so maybe this would work.

       All card transactions, and all cash transactions which go through an electronic register, are already surreptitiously logged and transmitted to a huge, secret Government database, so all you need is access to your personal record (which the Reveue have anyway).

       I don't do many of those because they're unfeasibly expensive and i'd rather be working as a herbalist than for the banking system.
