A Post With No Aim

Song of Repentant Newbies...

On the first page of the journey
I was looking at ideas rife
There were pants and words and socks and kings
There were bands and thrills and rings
The first thing I met was a guy named lubbit
And a sky that was green
The tone was light and the humor was dry
But the layout was truly clean

You see I've been rather overt writing posts with no aim
It felt bad to be part of the blame
In the bakery, they can dismember your fame
'Cause there ain't no one there to fall for your games
La, la ...

After two days without a pastry bun
My face began to turn red
After three days, without nary a one
I was starvin' for a piece of bread
And the story that told of my flaws, it showed
That I was mad, I think, in my head

You see I've been rather overt writing posts with no aim
It felt bad to be part of the blame
In the bakery, they can dismember your fame
'Cause there ain't no one there to fall for your games
La, la ...

After nine days, I had to 'course agree
'Cause I was finally beginning to see
There were pants and words and socks and kings
There were bands and thrills and rings
The 'engine is a godsend with it's searching around
And a little surprise above
And in commitees, moderators abound
But the pedants will give no love

You see I've been rather overt writing posts with no aim
It felt bad to be part of the blame
In the bakery, they can dismember your fame
'Cause there ain't no one there to fall for your games
La, la ...

       Love it love it!
It fits the tune marvellously!
The second verse is sheer genius :)

Bastard. I'd almost managed to forget that song. This is a vast improvement on the original.

Excellent! Croissant!... Can you write a tune as well? Please?

The original *was* pretty tuneless, wasn't it?
RayfordSteele, Jul 05 2002

Not that it's important, but I can't get that damn song out of my head, which is inspiring me to annotate this instead of doing more productive things in the real world. Good adaptation, though.
