Example:
8th of 7 = 8th of July
Not to be confused with:
8th of 7

Call me 7 of 6... of '01. |
So would I be 4th of 5 or 3rd of 12? |
No, nor even a queen (dearie) ;op |
It's a geek suggestion for Birthdate listings on Profile Page, if geek so desires. For instance, I'm 15th of 9 (September). Putting baker known as 8th of 7 to a wholesome, inspirationally commemorative use in terminology which 'bakers would grasp, appreciate, and have to them elves. |
For accuracy, it should be 1 of 1, as REAL borg list their numbers in that fashion (ie 7 of 9) as has been mentioned in a previous 8th-of-7-oriented post. |
Put me down as 25 of 4, which sounds terrifically awful. |
I'd like to see what 8th of 7 has to say... And I'm wondering whether "Jutta doesn't get it" is *really* grounds for m-f-d... |
I'm also worried about US-UK confusion: americans may post in the form MM DD, whereas us brits prefer DD MM. I'll be 7th of 10 (or 10 the 7th) |
thumb has laid down the protocol and as you know he is *always* right, well except for that time at the chat-room wedding when he wore the wrong shoes with the dress but I digress. its DD MM - put me down for 15th of 1. |
Good. I was simply bringing the point to the floor just *in case* anyone had overlooked it. I would, of course, never question thumbwax's correctness. |

Nick, the other moderators and I need to "get" an idea because it's our job to slot it into categories, move it around, and periodically oil it and dust it off. Otherwise, this is just becoming a repository for random text.
(In this particular case, I understood that the idea is "write `D of M' if you're born on the Dth of M"; what I don't get is why that would be in any way interesting or attractive.) |
So it's just another case of "Hey, let's all use <this piece of jargon> to reaffirm our group identity." I dislike jargon; it makes outsiders feel unwelcome before you even know them. But that's better expressed with a vote against than a m-f-d tag. |

How do I get a sugar lump? I love those things. |
There's no list because I wanted to leave it up to the individuals whether they wanted to make their moderator status known or not.
The moderators that have publicly admitted to being moderators include at least bristolz, st3f, hippo, and StarChaser. (Two of them are on leave of absence for various real life reasons.) |

wow all I had to do was whine? |

//Putting baker known as 8th of 7 to a wholesome, inspirationally commemorative use in terminology which 'bakers would grasp, appreciate, and have to them elves. //
I'm honoured <sits in Picard-style command chair with smug grin on face, gloats> |
// I'd like to see what 8th of 7 has to say... //
In this case I honestly don't feel it's proper for me to comment. |
//various real life reasons// .... a real life ? Anyone know where I can get one of those ? |
what is this 'life' you speak of, and are they any fun? |
a place in history for 8th! is there a statue? |
I think I'm young and irresponsible. Can I have another sugar lump? :P |

<rant> Jutta: I see your point about having to understand it, it's just that when I first saw //mfd - jutta doesn't get it// (anno deleted I think), I just thought it seemed a little harsh. For example, say if there's a function of some club, and some guy tells a joke. Everyone gets it, except for one guy. Just because this one guy happens to be the chairman of the board, the joke is deemed bad. I don't think that's right, but I was probably just removing it form context as usual ;op. Although as I now see the mfd has been removed, I'll go and crawl back into my hole. Great work by the way, Jutta. I mean, really, lovely. *cowers* </rant> |
