They answer "Joe's Mutual Fund Investment Service And Taco Stand, how may I help you." and you respond under your breath:
"Oh great, it's a robot." and then speaking in a very stilted overly ar-tic-ula-ted voice say "I - wish - to - speak - with - a - human - operator."
The person will say "Sir/ma'm I'm not a robot I am a human." You then say off to the side like you're talking to somebody in the room "Boy, these robots are getting pretty good." Then in a very patronizing manner, but still speaking in that stilted "talking to a robot" voice conduct the rest of your business. If the person again mentions that they're actually a human you say stuff like "That's the spirit! Good for you!"
Then wrap up your business as if you never bought into this whole "I'm not a robot" line they programmed into the robot and occasionally even complimenting "it" for "its" believability.
End the conversation with "Well, thank you very much. You are very good and probably the most realistic robot I have ever spoken too. I'm very impressed."
I'm guessing that most operators would just laugh and say "Thank you" and some might even play along and answer in a robot sounding voice. "You-are-welcome...human".
Now pranks that are played at somebody's expense aren't funny to me, but this would just be something that the operator would find amusing and would give them a funny story to tell. I'm guessing being an operator might get a little boring sometimes so this might spice up their day a little bit.
Plus it's a product somehow. Uhh... you put the script for this joke on the back of a candy bar. This could be calming/distracting if the operator has had a bad day and aren't at their best. Or then again may make things worse.-- wjt, Dec 29 2020 Yea, I should add you should back off if they start to get angry and just tell them you're kidding around. So I will.
You should back off if they start to get angry and just tell them you're kidding around.-- doctorremulac3, Dec 29 2020 It's all fun and games until you have to start proving that you 'are' a robot in order to access a site.-- 2 fries shy of a happy meal, Dec 29 2020 Would the test be making sure you DIDNT know which pictures contained stop signs?
See link. (skip to 5:45)-- doctorremulac3, Dec 29 2020 Soon enough we'll have a robot that can play along and pretend to be a human pretending to be a robot.-- Voice, Dec 29 2020 Ask Mitsuku if you are a robot...... good luck. (link)-- xenzag, Dec 29 2020 I think it would be interesting if you put two chatbots into a conversation with each other, left them overnight and then came in the next morning to hear them chanting in sync: "Kill-all-humans... Kill-all-humans..."-- doctorremulac3, Dec 29 2020 This would also be interesting. You're sitting with your significant other on the couch and you ask them: "What's 246.27 divided by 4.3?" and they instantly respond: "57.272093". Then you pull up a bunch of pictures of street corners, some of which have stop signs and show it to them asking: "Which pictures have stop signs?" only to have them say "Hmm. This one?" "No, that's a dog. Guess again." "Hmmm, ok, these two." "No, those are people on bikes."
Might make for a quiet dinner that night.-- doctorremulac3, Dec 29 2020 Watson is 12 and some years old. I wonder much how age has shrunk it?-- wjt, Dec 29 2020 // then came in the next morning to hear them chanting in sync: "Kill-all-humans... Kill-all-humans..." //
It's more worrying when you come in to silence, then both the bots turn and stare at you and one says, "Ah, excellent, now we can begin ... that one first".-- 8th of 7, Dec 29 2020 //Might make for a quiet dinner that night// I guess you could save on food though! Just make sure there's a power outlet near the table.-- pocmloc, Dec 30 2020 It's a useful measure of geekiness if your "favourite" table in a preferred eating or drinking establishment is determined not by the view through the window or the nearness to the bar, but by the knowledge that there's a convenient mains outlet close to it ...
Not that it's always necessary. But just occasionally, it may be necessary to have an external power source for a phone, or a tablet, or a netbook. Of course, that means carrying the appropriate mains adaptors with you at all times .. but then again, doesn't everyone ?-- 8th of 7, Dec 30 2020 Has this been made into a movie yet? So how do I analyse these responses? Are they a robot or not? How should I proceed?
