Double Deck Zipper works using the same teeth meshing process as a conventional zip, except there are double lines of teeth entering the mouth of the fastener which is double decked to accomodate them.
From the rear of the fastener, the joined zip emerges and looks to all intents and purposes like any other, except it has double strength.
It was a bugger to draw clearly so I deleted most of the detail and concentrated on the entry point and exaggerated the width of the direction of the upper lines of teeth for clarity.
see illustration.....-- xenzag, Oct 04 2020 Double Decker Zip https://sodabred.tu...xenzag-4th-oct-2020 [xenzag, Oct 04 2020] It's not the same thing as it still only has two sets of teeth entering a single slot. My idea proposes four seperate rows of teeth entering a double deck zipper. Meanwhile you could try and be a bit more inventive, and post some ideas of your own instead of always presenting as a type of poisonous humbug of constant negativity.-- xenzag, Oct 04 2020 It's not the same idea, as I have explained, but you spend the majority of your time in efforts to prove that halfbakery idea postings already exist, instead of posting more ideas of your own. The halfbakery is not a competition to gleefully dredge up similarities with obscure finds. Let's see more creativity, which is the real reason to be here.-- xenzag, Oct 04 2020 I'm not inclined to educate you as to the difference any further. If you can't see it from the drawing and the description then that's too bad, the failure lies with you to attend to, and not with me. Deliberate, calculated stupidity always irritates me greatly, as does having a type of limpet troll following my every posting. Meanwhile I come here to post ideas; enjoy those of others and not to engage in tiresome antics. If it makes you happy, I'll remodel the zipper as a double decker bus to reinforce its difference.-- xenzag, Oct 04 2020 // I dont see how pointing out prior art is poisonous humbug or negativity. //
It's not.
// The halfbakery is not a competition to gleefully dredge up similarities with obscure finds.//
No, that's only a part of it. There's also the pedantry, in-jokes, insults (deserved or otherwise), schadenfreude, and political debate ...
// I dont take any glee in that - //
You're missing out, take every oportunity you get ...
// and have no emotion close to your expression of fury. Its more of a shrug. //
Do you raise one eyebrow in a quizzical way ? Er, do you have pointy ears ... ?
// Deliberate, calculated stupidity always irritates me greatly, //
What about accidental, miscalculated stupidity ? The planet's full of that ...
// as does having a type of limpet troll following my every posting. //
Presumably they're the sort that cling to rocks below the high-water mark ...
Nice work, [kdf], see if you can get the purple vein in her forehead to start to throb. Try mentioning genetically modified food, or globalization, or battery chickens ...-- 8th of 7, Oct 04 2020 Some thoughts: <pedant> Your drawing is excellent (as always) except it's backwards: the zip "halves" (or quarters, in your case) are together when emerging from the "bottom" of the runner; your drawing should have them apart on the top left. </pedant> Rather than the 4 strips joining to become 2 (one above the other) they could all join into 1, which would be more rigid (possibly TOO rigid...). The internal channeling in the runner would be quite complicated...-- neutrinos_shadow, Oct 04 2020 The advantage of the two separate junctions is that it allows for the possibility of some sort of compressive seal between the inner and outer layers.
It also allows the layers to move slightly relative to one another -an overly rigid structure might impose excessive forces on the garment, or more precisely on the junction between the garment and the zipper.-- 8th of 7, Oct 04 2020 Yes, and immersion suits.
// no pointy ears but I can do the raised eyebrow as needed. //
Hmmmmm ...
Pairs well with sentences starting with I fail to see the reason...
Take that beanie hat off. C'mon, take it off. What are you hiding ? Eh ?
Hmmmm ... always wears a pulled-down hat, prone to querulous eyebrow activity, and uses I fail to see the reason... ... very, VERY suspicious ...
Not that we have any special prejudice against Vulcans, you understand. You just get the same general broadband prejudice as everyone else ...-- 8th of 7, Oct 04 2020 You don't ? Hmmmm ....
<Adjusts Voight-Kampff/>
[kdf], reaction time is a factor in this, so please pay attention. Now, answer as quickly as you can ...-- 8th of 7, Oct 05 2020 You two should start breeding.... imagines multi tentacled children who live under bridges.-- xenzag, Oct 05 2020 Fine. You can be the billy-goat ...-- 8th of 7, Oct 05 2020 //Xenzag, you (and likely others) will be relieved to know my breeding days are behind me// Laughs out loud. I'm sure you and 8th will find a way. I only ever impregnate half assembled flat pack soft furniture. (before returning the items to multiply like coat hangers on the warehouse shelves)-- xenzag, Oct 05 2020 You'll have to move the pull to a location which is more in line with the center of drag force, otherwise you'll have a hard time getting it to zip.-- RayfordSteele, Oct 05 2020 Make the pull a powered device; supply current through one of the pairs of teeth, from a battery pack integrated into the garment.
Add Bluetooth to it, and it could be operated by a phone app.
The pull could be made to look like a tiny Abt rack-railway locomotive.-- 8th of 7, Oct 05 2020 I think I did post a motorised zip some time ago but couldn't be arsed checking. You can do it for me - there's a good boy.-- xenzag, Oct 05 2020 Yeah, 'cuz that's what penis fly-traps need : more teeth.-- FlyingToaster, Oct 05 2020 // that's what penis fly-traps need : more teeth. //
... and that's exactly the sort of Special Entertainment that [xen] finds so profitable, when offered to her extensive list of Discerning Elderly Gentleman clients ...-- 8th of 7, Oct 05 2020 //gleefully// Ah yes. One of your human emotions. I have never understood the female capacity to avoid a direct answer to any question.
As it happens, I haven't posted any ideas for a while, and I like it when others //dredge up similarities with obscure finds//.
Now I. need to pull my beany down and go find parts for my electrical contraption that includes a Jacob's ladder for some reason.-- spidermother, Oct 06 2020 //when offered to her extensive list// I appreciate your openly expressed desire for me to be your female company, but alas your delusions have consumed you. Constantly ascribing mistaken gender types to anyone is very boring, even for you. What happened to your capacity for invention? Step up and be more creative......Post some new ideas, instead of always feeding on mine. You don't want to turn into a non-posting lurker like your new partner kdf.-- xenzag, Oct 06 2020 random, halfbakery
