h a l f b a k e r yIncidentally, why isn't "spacecraft" another word for "interior design"?

take one of those swimming fish they have for pools, theyre battery operated and attach a light to it, instead of having boring pool lights, you have cool fish lighting up your pool swimming around, they can also be different colors...how mesmerizing, like christmas lights that swim around...

At first I was going to write about how much battery this would eat up, but I can imagine LED lights lasting a while. Here, feed your fish this bun. (oh, and welcome to the 'bakery) |
Very nice, have several of them different colours, different strobe effects and you could imagine you're back in the sixties. |
I love having a midnight swim before going to bed. These lights would enhance my swimming experience...kinda like fairy lights in the pool. Nice. |

I gotta say, as a swim instructor, getting kids to put their
heads underwater can sometimes be difficult. Now I don't
have to lie to them about there being fishes in the pool.
"Put your head underwater and look for them!"+ |
You could also chuck one into your water cooler. |
Can we have it play the Jaws theme? That'd be great at night. |
Clever fish could dock with an inductive power supply (forget the correct term, please post it you who know) and recharge when the pool's empty. |

//recharge when the pool's empty.// |

Those are clever fish. Will they grow legs, or wheels? :) |

<begin rant> Finally, someone who spells "chaise longue" the way it's supposed to be spelled, and not "chaise lounge." Can you believe too many interior designers misspell/mispronounce the damn word? It's embarrassing! <end rant> |
By the way, a martini sounds lovely. I could really use one. |
Most Americans say "Chaise Lounge," because that's just the way we do it. |
[bwv], what [shapu] said. But it's wrong and it annoys me. Just a pet peeve. |
how about jelly fish that are translucent and glow? just up and down really, but probably very cool as well... |
Yes, but "longue" in french means long, so it means "Long chair." Which it is, unless you have one specially designed for the little people. At which point it's...not...so...long. Right. |
I prefer Del Taco to Taco Bell, but can you tell me how to pronounce "Chalupa," [scout]? ...being the cultured, mutli-linguist that you are. Oh, and //You look lovely in that dress that shows the tops of your breasts.// this had me rolling on the floor for a good 15 minutes. Thanks. |

chaise longue n. A reclining chair with a long seat that supports the outstretched legs. [French : chaise, chair + longue, long.] |
lounge n. A long couch, especially one having no back and a headrest at one end. [Possibly from French s'allonger, to stretch out, from Old French alongier, to lengthen, from Medieval Latin allong re : Latin ad-, ad- + Latin longus, long; see long1.] |

They look pretty much the same to me. |
they'd have to be large enough to not clog up your filter. great idea adaziz, go for it! |
If the omission of just that teeny weeny itsy bitsy two letter word was a grand enough occasion for the mighty UnaBubba pop up then, why, I'll do it again and again. |

[I learnt 5 foreigh languages
when I was in high school, does
that make me sophisticated?] |

I want my fish to look like big
spermatozoids. Have them swim
away from light, so they 'attack'
swimmers in the pool... |
Seeing jurist's link, I would like my pool to be swimming with fairy light turtles.
Ahh, UB, back in the fray again. Seems like the bakery universe has just swung back into kilter. |
Great idea! Give them some basic robot intelligence... perhaps heat/motion sensors. That way they would always be drifting around looking fishlike, looking for warm spots, and coming over to you when you are in the pool. |
Also, if someone peed in your pool they would be immediately surrounded by bright lighted fish, and then ridiculed by all present. |
Fish would not need to be too clever to find a power supply (that is the correct term, [wagster]) as there are many methods they could use to find it. The simplest would be to put it next to the filter. Dead fish would simply float over, where they would be recharged. |
