Wearing sunglasses makes you look cool and stylish, but in most places* means your view of the world is too dimmed to see anything.
So, combine the idea of sunglasses with the idea of spectacle mounted lamps. A 5w LED mounted on each frame corner not only looks damn blingy, but provides plenty of
illumination to help you see what is in front of you.
*excludes colonies and foreign parts.
Sort of like this...

A 5W LED would be very bright - and thus require that everyone you speak to also wore sunglasses, which would make them look equally cool, thus negating the effect of you wearing your sunglasses. |
|
|
Well on the other hand you could consider it a plus to be surrounded by people who also look cool. |

Thanks for the link, [neutrinos_shadow]. That's what I was trying to refer to when I said //spectacle mounted lamps//. I dont know what they are properly called, so I couldnt look them up. |

It seems to me that a variation on this theme, already
in development, could make this Idea moot.
"Augumented Reality" glasses are like ordinary glasses
with displays on the inside of the lenses, to show
descriptions of the things you look at. |
|
|
Note a camera is needed, plus plenty of processing
power to analyze the camera view, to keep the
descriptions aligned with the things you are looking at. |
|
|
Well, what if the glasses were instead completely black,
and everything you looked toward was, via the same
camera as before, shown on the screen inside the
lenses? The camera would automatically handle
changing light levels, and the screen would always be
the same perfect-level brightness. |

//Note a camera is needed, plus plenty of processing power

|
Quite a bit of processing power to match the 140gb/sec
from the dual autofocus 128 megapixel cameras we already
have. Not to mention hardware scanning for enhanced field
of view, auto HDR and pretty exceptional low light
performance. Although mine now need a little bit of
external focus correction, feeling a bit old. |

Yes but that is not an original idea, unfortunately. |
