Every time I go to the thrift store, I see the section devoted to cast-off plush toys, and it makes me sad. My idea is to buy them all, eviscerate them, sew them into one big blob, fill them with beans (or whatever they fill beanbag chairs with) and sit on them. It would be the world's most comforting
chair.

My wife recently made a giant bean bag bear for my 3-year-old grandson. It's basically a bean bag made out of furry material with a bear's head. She also included cuddly arms suitable for wrapping around small children... |

[theleopard], I envy the fact that you have not seen the Thing, because now you can rent it and see it for the first time. Do not read or attempt to learn more about it on the web. Just get it and watch. The opening is pretty amazing too. This is the John Carpenter Thing. The black and white original version has its charms as well. |

The ending of the Thing is better, because it is truly metaphysical and can be interpreted on many levels. |

(+) Don't eviscerate them. Just sew them together, with their little paws and snouts and whatever hanging out. Would work well for a beanie baby fur coat, too. (You'd have to trade the stuffing for something more lightweight, though.) |

I was thinking about this idea, and even before
opening it back up was pondering the ghosts of
lost childhood imbued in these objects. Stranger
in a Strange Land had a term for this concept, I
think - that psychic residua persist in objects, and
for this reason the Martians had to desert their
cities after a while. |

Bear and get a bunch of fresh skins, then put
them together. I think being a shoggothy
amalgam is a destiny just as good for a teddy bear
skin. |
