For those of us that suffer from often debilitating allergies, the only remedies are drugs. A better solution could be a surgery that removes the sinus tissues that are prone to swelling and secrete annoying amounts of mucous.
While the sinus tissues do play a role in filtering out particulate matter,
perhaps this role could be replaced with filters that are inserted into the sinus cavity and disposed of on a regular basis

Sinuses are the price we paid for 1) vertical locomotion (because the head would be too heavy otherwise), and 2) increased brain function (the greater blood-flow required improved cooling). |
1) Vertical locomotion is overrated. We should investigate more efficient forms of horizontal locomotion. |
2) Who cares about all that brain stuff? |

I'll donate my sinus cavities to scientific research. |

I think we can assume (from mention of allergies) that [positron] is referring to the nasal sinuses, although he really should have been more specific, given that El Pedanto is lurking. For the same reason, I should clarify that 'vertical locomotion' was intended to imply 'locomotion whilst being oriented with the longest axis of the body effectively vertical'. |

I think it's safe to say that the anal cavity is a space of waste rather than a waste of space. |

There already is a surgery for people who have chronic sinusitis. They fill your sinuses with fat from your body and then seal them off. |
Not at all, my antipodean buddy, for it is well known that, while you regularly lurk within these portals, El Pedanto is permanently lurking, ready to pounce on the incautious and unwary. |

From rmutt's link... "If the inferior and middle turbinates are removed, the source of warming and moistening the air is gone, and then the dryness, frequent infections, crusting and local pain can result. With the absence of the mucus, cilia and enzymes, frequent infections of the sinuses can occur. This may lead to the need for further sinus surgery" |

Lovely, you get to trade annoying allergies for a crusty collapsed septum and daily bouts of pain accompanied with sinusitis leakage into your throat. |

If you do this - dont get in a plane - I warned you. |
