Undergraduate, secondary school projects that get students to find problems in their school. The problems are then written up with a project management solution including costings. These could be as small as removing some graffiti, fixing a hole or window, to the upgrading of a court yard landscape
or repairing a retaining wall. Even just cataloging and ordering spare stored resources could count.
Projects could then be vetted and actioned, carrying the pupils' involvement to the next stage.
Hopefully after a decade or so, the school would have projects getting rarer and rarer with pupils having a greater attachment to 'their' school. Parent involvement could also add to this holistic socialism.
Maybe then, the next level of geeks will know how to fix an elevator.
What about janitor school?

A vocational school I attended for awhile, students
regularly participated in some of the day-to-day
operations and maintenance. Not really a new idea. |

[FlyingToaster],[2 fries..] Did it really cement the
emotional tie
to the school or was it just a workbook to get
through? |
