i intend to design and manufactor a shopping trolley with a motor and steering mechanism so to aid the old and people with heavy loads. this is for a school gcse project and any help would be greatly appreciated. the trolley would have a mechanism fitted underneath it that would have a motor designed geared down for power. it would be fitted with breaks for ammediate stopping in emergancies and also a decent steering mechanism.

any thoughts? # seb j l

I was hoping this idea would allow me to vote against school! Although since I'm a teacher I could have done myself out of a job.

<link> to motorised trolleys which are already on the market, but although they have baskets at the front, i'm not sure they are designed with shopping mainly in mind.

some way of allowing the user to 'reach' high shelving easily would be useful. Remember, the elderly tend not to buy huge amounts of shopping. so you dont need an enormous basket that they may find difficult to empty anyway.

       good luck mate.

[carfreak] was your idea for a scooter thing for people to ride - like the link - or like one of them tartan thinks old ladies pull around but motorised. if the latter then i think it a good idea - but would have to be light to get on and off buses etc.
