This idea uses the same principals as those key rings that beep when whistled at. The technology is fitted to the remote and when it is lost, whistle, it beeps and track it down.

How about a remote that beeps if you don't use it every n hours? That way, constant use would keep it quiet, and if left immobile for a while would assume it had been mis-placed and issue an audible warning. |
Or a "page" button on the device being controlled, much like you find on cordless phone base stations. |
I always wanted to have one of those beeping gadgets for my glasses |
Now that's a good idea! A generic version of this, about the size of a matchhead which could be attached to anything (like razgalili's glasses). |
Or a device that would chirp/announce itself when you whistled. That way, no second unit necessary (i.e. what happens when you lose the paging device?...) |
Could also be used with golf balls. Hit it into the rough and can't find it? Whistle and follow the chirp! |
Good idea. One downfall. The keyfinder devices I have seen (or heard) are ulta-sensitive. Meaning, yeah it's great when it's lost and you can whistle or clap to find it but the damn things don't stop beeping!!! If the remote was in your hand (not lost) and the phone rang, you called to someone upstairs, or there was a noise on the TV, the thing would start beeping!!! This could get a little annoying. This happened with the Clapper too. |
Okay, what about a paging button on the appliance you are remotely controlling? Lose the remote, cross the room(heaven forbid!) press the button on the appliance and the remote starts beeping. Yeah I know just like egnor said on the 22nd. |
If you need that many buttons, you'd be better off spending the money on an 'improve your memory' course... |
Ginkgo Viagra, to help you remember what the f*** you're doing... |
I need that many buttons! If not more. Keys, wallet, remote, scissors, pens, batteries, um, if it's in my house and it can be moved, I've probably lost it at least once. |
And I don't think a memory-improvement course would help, though I admit I've never tried one. |
If your memory's that bad egnor, how do you *know* that you've never tried one? |
Perhaps only if one whistled the first few notes of, say, Chopin's Fantasie Impromptu, or the 7 notes of Close Encounter of the Third Kind's alien sequence . . . or clapped in the rythmic pattern of Queens "We Will Rock You," would these devices respond. |
