The idea is that there be a non-annotating period for new ideas.
Rationale: mainly that early annotation often stifles thought and innovation, like the kid that goes HA-HA on the simpsons.
Halfbakery is frequented by so many regulars that knee-jerk their special tainted slurry all over fresh
thought.
I mean, see how long this goes without any annotation.
Gwan, I dare ya DON'T ANNOTATE ! ! ! ! !

Annotation:

I don't know about this... |
When I view an idea and form an opinion, I don't think I'll like being told to maintain 'a minute in silence'. |
Annotations is what makes halfbakery interesting, and only those annotations that are thought of and typed in the very instant they were conceived (I know, I know, I'm not too quick on the keyboard myself, but you can catch my drift). [ - ] |

Having no annos is absolutely the worst thing that could happen. I've erased ideas that didn't get remarks after 30 minutes. That an idea could be so boring...it's embarrassing! On the other hand, maybe the ideas I precipitously erased were so deep and complex that bakers were writing really long and reflective annos.
Nah. |

Paradoxically, thanx for ur comments.
I'm glad not to be shot down in flames. |

I guess we wouldn't be here if we weren't robust. |

Jutta, has this notion (of a "grace-period" ) ever been implemented here? |
It shouldn't be to stop annotation, just to delay it, to give more people the chance to see an idea and consider it in their own "mental space". |
Even 24 hours, that's all. |
24 hours? That seems extreme. At least it does for my ideas that take no more than a few seconds to digest fully. Plenty of ideas get derailed well beyond the first annotation. |
Just delay the inevitable. |
And what's wrong with knee-jerk reactions? |
[blissy] there was a lot of editing involved. quite an entertaining 10 minutes. :) |
