Why are park benches so hard? Surely it's possible to have bean bags and sofas, covered with a durable, washable material. These would obviously have to be attached securely.
In Europe, kid's parks have a kind of "carpet" made from recycled tyre rubber, but that's not what I mean (nor the link immediately
below). I'm talking about street furniture.

Durability. If you've ever owned garden chairs, you'll know how quickly the padded cushions for them deteriorate, even when waterproof; I imagine the Parks Department doesn't want to have to keep replacing them. |
