apparently bubble bath contains dye which gives them their lovely colours when concentrated in their bottles but once they are poured into the bath and diluted, there is too little of the dye on the surface of the bubble to show off the colour.
so sadly <sigh> all bubble baths consist of white
froth.
mind you when a child blows bubbles, they have the most glorious colours as they reflect the lights in the room, so what our bubbles need is lots of lights.
so I propose a bath completely lined with a transparent material under which are lights of every hue. these lights will constantly change colour as you bathe; lighting your bath from below and shining on ones bubbles. I said bubbles

Awsome! This is so cool. I love blowing bubbles. |

My daughter has this rubber ball that lights up and blinks when given an impact. I tested it in the kitchen sink to make sure she wouldn't get a shock, waited for her next bubble bath, flipped off the lights and tossed the ball into the tub. She hasn't wanted a bath without it since.
I can picture just what this would look like, and it is kew-el. (+) |

A film of petrol would further enhance one's bubbles. |

[po] Show us your bubbles? |

With the lights off, a bottle of the bubbly and your multi-hued bubbles this would make for a lovely evening...if it could be shared. ;) |

Bubble baths are meant to be relaxing!!!... mixing it with a disco is ruins the point!!!... and you never mentioned how you would get bubbles like those that come out of a kids mouth?... wouldn't they be too delicate to survive for more than a few seconds!!!... and if you just used normal bubbles.. they would all be opaque?!... so wouldn't you just still have white froth? - |

Where is lovely lass yon? On unguent scented heaven. All reasons everyone abhors bathing are thus hastily won in the healing mists ever. Problem over? |

Curiously enough [po] I saw something like this on a website recently. We're redoing the bathroom so are very much engrossed with baths and the like. Bathroom Express (see linky) has an option called Chromatherapy where you can have lights in the bath and you can choose different colours for different "healing properties". If they didn't come out with all that healing guff I'd consider it, but only if we won the lottery. I know different colours affect mood but healing ulcers with green is pushing it a bit as far as I'm concerned. |

I prefer the orange! "Orange promotes pleasure, enthusiasm, and sexual stimulation. [snip] and may be useful in easing digestive system discomforts (e.g., flatulence, cramps)." |
|
|
I can see where those two things would dovetail nicely. |

//Chromatherapy// In the link they warn you about using the lights only if the tub is full. Apparently the system still uses incandescent bulbs. Since most modern tubs are made of acrylic the lights could be replaced with LEDs and cast right into the acrylic. LEDs run on a safe voltage and don't get that hot. Also the tub will be standard size or can be supplied as a liner for retrofit. |

In my recent list, this came up as 'Psychadelic Kaleidoscopic Rainbow Enhanced Bubble Bath Urinal Splash Protection.' Which gave me a giggle. Sounds like something you might find in a bar in San Francisco, but definitely not anywhere in Texas. I predict a swift rise to the top ideas of the month club. |

Very nice. Demure pastels would be pretty, too. |
|
|
I correctly guessed the author of this idea, just from the title. |

Could you have bright LEDs in transparent floating spheres? It would be similar to [2 fries'] kid's toy lighted ball, but illuminated continuously with the changing hues, and have inductive charging of the batteries. For people who don't want to modify the bathtub. |

all our + votes went phfooof (blissmiss spells it better) in the famous crash last year but we don't care because the halfbakery survived... |

and allows me to say - welcome to the hb, 21 ( I think you will fit in quite nicely) |

I'm one of those weirdos who likes to be in the tub as it fills up, super hot water running over my feet. |
|
|
A sealed LED light chain travelling from the spout to the drain would make for a pretty fill up, and would look way better then a regular bath chain. |
