Pretty basic, outside mic hooked to your high end stereo, maybe more for sunburban and rural locations, spring birds early morning are fascinating. Creates a healthy working environment, might have to pipe in natural sounds from the country to enliven city office buildings, though some crowd scenes might be interesting. Recording permitted. TV and videos require your attention but sounds create an environment to do other things in. Try it, you'll love it.

yep, the sound of an articulated lorry backing up in a narrow road and narrowly missing my car does a lot for my blood pressure.

only kidding - love the birdsong.

Webcams will be more intriguing in the next decades with very large, high density screens and cameras. But sounds are easily reproduced in high quality now with most folks super stereo systems, the 5 channels system especially, maybe calling for 5 mics, which must be of decent quality.
