one hand for PDA, one hand for Phone, one hand to dial...

There are few things as yuppily pitiful as watching someone trying to dial a cellphone while reading the number from a PDA (and standing in an airport or other terminal, of course). This could be done easily with a clip-on third hand. The clip-on hand, with about four inches of arm, would end in a clip that attaches to the 'real' arm. The clip is angled so the attached hand is next to the real hand when both hands are palm-up. Then simply place the PDA in the attached hand, the phone in the real hand, and use the other (presumably real) hand to poke the PDA and phone as needed. A swivel-wrist makes the added hand suitable for right- and left-handed use. It also gives you room for more wristwatches.

Sort of. Not much use for a PDA, I have to admit. [DrCurry, Oct 04 2004]

Or they could just buy one of the many PDA/cellphone combos sold by Handspring, Kyocera, Samsung, Toshiba and a host of others.

Didn't we do clip-on hands before somewhere? Or was that arms?

It's just a matter of being a bit patient. Thankfully, cellphones and PDAs in their current form are merely a brief intermediate stage in the glorious march of technology towards full seamless cybernetic integration of information appliances.

And now a message from our sponsors: "We are the Borg. Your existance as you have known it is over. We will add your technological and biological distinctiveness to our own. Freedom is irrelevant. Self-determination is irrelevant. You must comply. Resistance is futile. You will be assimilated".

Dude... Bluetooth on the PDA, phone, and headset. Put the headset on, leave the phone in your pocket, lookup someone's number on the PDA, click it, and hey presto the phone dials & you're connected through the headset.
