More people would take the stairs and there will be less incidents of kids playing on it.

problem. If I put in a coin to start the escalator, a dozen people rush the stairs for a free ride.If you use a turnstyle gate, shoppers could get on after they insert quarter. however, access for wheel chairs and other disabilities would have to be worked out.

When was the last time you saw a wheelchair on an escalator?

My grandfather went head over heels down the escalator, bursting open two five-gallon buckets of paint he was carrying. They called my grandmother and said "Please come get him".

I go almost everywhere head over heels. It's far more comfortable than the reverse.

If the two paint cans were red and blue, then presumably your grandmother was called because the poor man was marooned.

It's unfair for people with mobility difficulties, they will pay for majority of others' use.

Perhaps it is only the step you are standing on which moves
pocmloc, Dec 30 2009

Perhaps the step doesn't move at all - it could be that the rest of the Universe moves.
