A camera is placed looking into the oven, from above, through a Pyrex glass window to view the food cooking. The camera is connected to the Internet to allow you to check on the food as its cooking with a cell phone app. This would allow you to check on the state of "doneness", i.e., if it is golden brown or burnt without opening the oven door.

If the glass door is as clean as mine, you'd be better off with ground-penetrating radar.

Pssst, [Max], it might be an Aga - they don't have glass doors

Pyrex gets really really hot in an oven--hot enough, I'd surmise, to damage the camera with radiant heat. I don't know this, I'm just guessing. Why not simply start with one of those incineration-resistant cameras they lower into active calderas or somesuch?

I once had an idea for Watched Pots. This could be upgraded to include a longer neck mechanism, that could view in the oven.[Bristolz] illustrated for me. I think I can still find a link. Great idea.

Have an easy to remove for cleaning stainless steel mirror, and pivoting door inside the cooker.

Once every 20 seconds or so the door pivots open for like 1/10th of a second and the camera takes the pic.

I was expecting an oven used for taking pictures. Having stumbled upon an emulsion which develops under the application of heat, a large sheet of film is prepared and placed onto a baking tray. A bulbous glass eye, fitted to one of the faces of the oven (take your pick) projects the surrounding scene onto the tray and records an image.

It might not be the most practical camera in the world, cumbersome to take to the beach and so on, but the emulsion has the remarkable property of being chemically identical to cookie dough, and hence every snapshot is also an edible delicious treat.
