Imagine you are at a coffee stall in a square in a shopping district and it is boiling hot yet you need to look young rich and sexy infront of all by buying a product that is a fashion label as well as nutritional. Why not buy something which has the same genre as a frothy coffee that will not kill you if drunk during a hot day. An aqcuirred taste, mushroom juice will show that you have a high level of sophistication. Everyone will notice the froth eminating above the top of the cardboard cup you hold and psychologically link it with the fashionableness of other frothy drinks and on a plus side, you will not suffer from ehat exhaustion.

The mushrooms which could be used are mushrooms with mild psychoactive properties to replace the boost you get from drinking caffeinated drinks without the high you also get and ones with strong taste which have oils similiar to sugar. Mushroom juice also resembles coffee in colour and mushrooms can be bred to have different subtle flavours and come in more variety than the different coffee beans that exist. The mushroom froth business would have more space to expand and may even exceed the coffee business in affluence. Mushrooms such as Amanita phallides, Agaricus Bisporus and Agaricus Bitorquis have extremely strong tastes and mild psychoactive properties. I suggest a mix of 40% agaricus bisporus juice, 58% Agaricus Bitorquis and 2% Amanita Phallides with 4 table spoons of sugar per 500 mls of juice, thoroughly mixed and frothed.

A culture would eventually build up around mushrooms and people would recycle their waste to provide compost for their shrooms. Different mushrooms, hybrids and new strains of mushrooms would evolve and this will add an extra bit of quality to everyone's lives for until humans die off or all the knowledge is forgotten due to a cataclysmic event. Thoguh i am sure peolpe in nuclear bomb sheltyers would drink mushroom juices and froths in order to retain their sanity and make use of the waste they create.

I fear you have the mix too strong and it's effecting your ability to type. Then again it could just be ehat exhaustion. + for a hot beverage idea though.

Would that cataclysmic event be the consumption of too much psychedelic mushroom juice?

[MrBurns] You have to bong it into your nose for the psychedelic effects.

I'd even drink this without the psycotropic effects. Or especially without...+

The writer should really avoid sensationalizing an idea, by suggesting a tie-in with intoxication or psychoactive side effects, or secondary gain from looking "cool". If you want a drink, get a drink. If a drink gives you ideas, get a shrink. []
