Disgusting. But in a useful sort of way. I'll vote for it if it comes with a long, narrow, semi-rigid hose. |

Changing the bag for this device is the worst household chore I can imagine. |

Snot-O-Suction from the makers of the liposuction thingies. |

So, earlzkman, perchance did you have a cold when you dreamed up this little charmer? |

Large bulb-type 'evacuators' are available, but aimed at babies. I can't think of any reason an adult couldn't use one, except that an adult can blow his nose. |
|
|
It is considered unwise to blow nose. |

This might be dangerous. I think most syringes are aimed at flushing stuff out rather than sucking it out. Maybe your device could do both, as long as the suction is gentle. |
|
|
Also, when you have a cold, it's not just mucus that stuffs you up, but also inflammation of your nasal cavity. |

Baked, at your friendly local otolaryngologist. You can buy 'em too. I'll find a link. |

I once went to a doctor who told me that the best way to treat a really stuffy nose is to fill one of those bulbs with salty water, and squirt the water up your nose. The salt dissolves the mucus, and makes it easier to blow. Just be sure to lean over the sink while you do it. |

Ah... another sighting of the rare interrogative ellipsis. |

phoenix, I nearly collapsed reading that. Unreal. |

The photographs are the clincher. |

I think this thing needs some sort of bellows operation. Just because. |

I actually have a nasal vacuum. A friend from Hungary brought it to us, since they use it on their kids when they have a cold - when they are too young to know to blow. It is called something like Orsivo-Porsivo affectionately know in our house as the Hungarian Snot Sucker. It attaches to your vacuum cleaner to provide suction. I will try to find a link. The gross thing about it is the cleaning. Especially since the tubing and receptor (for the snot), are clear, so you can see if you captured a big clam or not. It works just OK - the suction really is not powerful (maybe I should upgrade my vac), but it is meant for kids. |
