This would be just like normal sunscreen, but have iron or something else to protect people from gamma rays and x-rays. It could maybe set off some sort of magnetic field that would protect you. It would come in a container just like sunscreen, and be available at your local convienent store. It would be good if you were going to be exposed to small amounts of radiantion, or if the ozone layer depleeted enough for normal exposure to the sun to be dangerous.

These folks may be able to come up with lead swim wear for those hot days on the beach. [kbecker, Oct 04 2004]

[snw] the idea sounds ok, but don't think your science is up to the concept.

A word of advice: avoid using phrases like "It could maybe set off some sort of magnetic field that would protect you" in the HB.

[snw] check link about absorption of X-rays in iron etc. I am afraid you are outta luck.

The Ozon layer won't stop X-rays (unless I missed some recent results). It only stops some UV. A nice, wide brimmed hat is still the best sun protection (link). You can even have a filter dangling from the rim to get rid of reflecte UV.

kbecker, are the two women on the site linked from "Lead Wear" undead, or suffering extreme radiation poisoning? Healthy they are not...

[david_scothern], I have not met them. Perhaps they are something royals and have to be look like that.
