       [-] 99.9% of the time when I write [pashute] it's a response to a post or annotation... which already has a link to your account page on it.

       As on reddit, where referring to another user with the format "/u/usernamehere" creates a link and also notifies the user to the mention. It's a useful function. I don't see how the shortener bit could be made to work, though.
