hands in the air security jacket

This is a specially designed jacket for use in emergency hold up situations. When a robber type character shouts 'hands up', it appears that the tellers and the security guards all raise their arms high in the air - but it isn't true! The arms are actually inflatable! A small cord hanging out of the sleeve jacket when tugged, deploys the hidden fake outer arms to fill with air and shoot upwards. While the person with the gun is shouting and jumping about, the teller or security guard has their real hands free to press buttons or slowly draw weapons.

Cleverly placed velcro and folded fabric hides the arms in place with a compressed air bag in the back area to provide inflation of the flesh coloured plastic hands and arms. Do not iron or tumble dry.

I'll vote for this...but what if the robber tells them to put hands on heads?

Good idea, but surely any benefit will be wiped out once the robbers also get their hands on such advanced technology.

What if the robber starts playing the child game "Simon Says"

//What if the robber starts playing the child game "Simon Says"//

Then at least the tellers will have his name.

Also with multiple in/deflation for lazy Mexican waves.

Stick 'em up! Now put your hands where I can see them!
Shz, Dec 02 2004

I'd be able to hold my beer and do the wave. +

this could also be modified for life jackets.

I'm with [2 fries]. Now I can use my beer bong all by myself!

I don't see how the "arms" themselves, or the motion with which they deploy, err, raise, could -ever- look convincing. This strikes me as nothing more than silly.

       / could -ever- look convincing/

I have been wearing one of these jackets since March 2005. I told my wife and coworkers that it was a medical condition. No-one suspects. And if I lean over and get to shucking and jiving, those inflatable hands _will_ strike you silly.

You will come to understand, young [pig], that much on the Halfbakery and nearly all of the [benfrost] bakery is silly.

I want a special jacket that calls the police when I raise my hands... No, then again, that would be a bad idea too.
ye_river_xiv, Jun 11 2008

or if five jackets realize they are all in the hands up position, they phone the police ?
