I came up with this idea last year when I was 9. It's a robotic gutter cleaner, sort of like the robot vacuum cleaner, except it attaches to the gutters of your house and blows out the debris. It follows the gutters like a train track and cleans out the leaves and stuff.
I don't know if they built it.
http://www.youngeng...CelofEngResults.htm Idea probably originated at same time jakery thought of his. Look at bottom under Best Project for the Built Environment. [Zimmy, Apr 06 2005]
iRobot Looj
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRobot#Looj Came out two years after this idea, and has since been discontinued. Also, doesn't use vacuum/blowing. But it was also invented by a young person. [notexactly, Dec 06 2018]

...but bad for your feet. (Ray looks around at personal lego collection laying on the floor of his home office). |

Real sentences, no mispellings, and a generally good idea. + Now all it needs is to be categorized. |
what if ppl come in its way , while its cleaning the gutter? |
what is needed is some sort of low-key technology and cheep power. something on a track that the pigeons could move about? |
pigeons don't have knees do they? |
//what if ppl come in its way // People shouldn't be in the gutters. You should be worried about the people (or ppl, if u txt) walking below, showered with soggy decomposing leaves. The UK NetworkRail solution would be a robot that fells all the trees within 100 metres of your house. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars" Oscar Wilde. |

Hey, where are our manners? Welcome to the bakery, jakery, and congratulations on a good first idea. |
Hi [jakery] and welcome. Would this be solar powered, or could it compost the leaves to make methane? Either way, have a bun. |
Maybe you could train a ferret to run up the drainpipe and along the gutter. To the ferret you attach a device like a plough that turns the leaves over the edge of the gutter. Training the ferret would require some investment of time, but you could hire him out when trained. |
I'm going to train my ferret to eat pigeons! Mwahahaha etc. |
The moles will be hard pushed to match the productivity of my ferrets. Ferret top speed: 5.63mph and they can keep a secret. |
Weight for weight, moles eat more than any other animal. I think 3 times their body weight per day. If you can convince the moles that leaves taste like worms & grubs..... maybe a worm & grub spray. |

Having ferret-sat for a vacationing friend recently, I couldnt help but notice its love for pool balls. This was most notable when I was trying to play, but frequently, the little weasel would play all by himself. Just toss a couple balls in the gutter with a ferret - thatll do the trick. |
//the little weasel would play all by himself// <tries to imagine a ferret playing pool> How did he hold the cue? </ttiafpp> |
Excellent idea. Power source is immaterial, although solar would seem to be the simplest. |
Best part of this idea is that it doesn't require a complete redesign of everything we know about gutters, nor does it find a way to limit the efficacy of gutters the way shields do. |
[jakery], great idea. It's too bad you didn't have someone to help you build it. Someone won 1000 Pounds (approx $2000) for this idea. |
//How did he hold the cue?// |
He seemed to think that jumping off the light and attacking the balls is acceptable play. He also considers biting your toes while youre sleeping fair game... little weasel. |
[jakery], I had no intention of derailing your enthusiasm for the quest of the better and new.
I mostly wanted to demonstrate the value some of the world puts on unique & forward thinking. Please keep cognicising & post us on any like strikes of genius. |
great idea - follow the path, newbies... |
