gps tagged guns
if you could put gps collars on paroled inmates, why not guns? | |
To introduce weapons in places where there the public doesn't allow guns, and you the government want to introduce it. You introduce the GPS tagged guns policy.
Basically, all firearms are required to have a working gps tag. How this works is that the base model (for pistols) has a radio transponder
to report its position every hour if not being moved. If its accelerometer detects movement, it starts reporting its position every 30 seconds. If its safeties are off, it reports in real time, including if the gun is being fired, or is reloading.
To ensure there is no abuse of this policy, the owner is required to always ensure there is charge in the battery. If it is 2 days from running out of juice, it will beep constantly. If its not being charged still. A contractor will come and force the owner to charge it (at the owners own expense), after doing some tamper checking.
[Oh and btw, the authority has the power to make the pistol beep at its maximum volume, when its being used by the 'bad guy']
For larger weapons, a more sophisticated model may be required, e.g. multiple camera on the gun. Microphone
The reason this is useful, is that you can restrict the usage of the gun to specific areas, such as shooting range, and authorized places. Which can include the owners own backyard, if its approved via a telephone call to the tracking authorities. While at the same time, allowing it to be used as a self defense weapon.
This is since, if its used in unexpected circumstances, the owner will be forced to justify its usage, such as home invasion (basically, more paperworks).

Hopefully, this policy might convince the Australian government to not be so anal about guns in civilian hands. |
umm... If I think you are thinking what you are thinking. |
No this doesn't shoot gps tags |
Too much potential for abuse, -. Plus I don't want anybody knowing where my guns are. |
well that's for you American! |
What about us Australians!? where we can't even have a semiautomatic pistol! |
And maybe this gps tagging system, only applies to anything above a non semiautomatic pistol? (After all, its extra weight and size) |
