Suppose you would build a game which uses the google earth engine. As you race or move yourself in the game, the engine would keep track of where you are on planet earth.

The game would translate the satellite images to a virtual environment. Many millions of roads are already documented, the elevation profile and so on.. of course, as in google earth, only the places close to you get's transformed. It could be played as the ultimate version of a virtual world. it would be big though :-)

Monster internet connection and some clever software to give details on buildings from the top(ish) view given on Google Earth, but it brings a whole new level of freedom to GTA!!!

Might be better for a flight simulator, updating as the world does, without the need to be perfect on buildings.

There IS a flight sim built into Google Earth. It's hidden, but directions for finding it are available somewhere online (I'll look for a link after I finish my breakfast). I've played it, and it's pretty cool to fly around watching the landscape build up.

Found the link that I learned from. Just press Ctrl+Alt+A in Google Earth, if you want the short method.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go fly over my house.

Lemme find a link - there is already a 'Risk' Strategy Game being played out there.
