In movie theaters or lecture halls a cell phone ring is extremely disruptive and embarrassing to the person responsible. However, we are used to ignoring the occasional sneeze or cough. Why not use a sneeze or cough sound for your ring tone, so that nobody would get mad at you?

Of course I tried posting this useful, practical idea first, but everyone is commenting on my impractical, disasterous idea of the photosynthetic insect instead...what an interesting introduction to the half bakery! :) |

This would be worth it just to see people around you reach for their phones every time you actually sneeze.
I've always wanted a polite cough for mine, like a butler trying to interrupt. |
My phone has a MIDI entry mode for ring tones; I don't understand why it doesn't have a simple "record" button. |
I would like to see what happened in the theatre if your phone rang in a "vomit" tone - or how about "breaking wind " tone |
I once read that most people just do not hear/register noises such as birdsong unless they grew up in rural neighbourhoods (as a citygirl, I do in fact always hear the birds) but townspeople will always hear/register the sound of a dropped coin. excellent idea btw. I can imagine the entire audience, as one, saying "bless you!" |

I love it! Bun bun for you. I'd give you more, but I'm fresh out! |

*cough*answer your phone*cough* |

//or how about "breaking wind " tone// - on vibrate mode, of course. |

Can't say for sure that it really is a sneeze ringtone, but that's what it appears to be. (link) |

Hm. I want a "Yes! Yes! Yes!" ring. |
you would! shame, we can't all have what we want... |
as someone who has spent a bit of time on stage I would like to bun this idea to the hilt. the bastards always go off in the middle of your best bit. only bettered by the fuckers who put their feet up on the stage..grrrr. |
members of the orchestra do that? can't you sack them? |
Easy enough to do on any number of phones that play mp3 ringtones now. |
I'd like to see what a yawn ring would do to a room full of people. |

Welcome to the bakery, pdg. (WTAGIPBAN) |

"welcome to a good idea produced by a newbie"? |
"what terrible abuse! give IP BAN?" |

"Wasn't that a good idea, posted by a newbie." |

Used by [krelnik] to demonstrate that the Halfbakery is not as cliquey a place as many newcomers seem to think. See. [krelnik]'s profile for a "view" listing others. |

was once onstage playing the part of Azdak in Bertolt Brecht's Caucasian Chalk Circle, acting my little heart out I was (only 21 at the time) and just when it got to the bit where i had been brutually beaten up by the henchmen of the imperial forces and I was summoning up all my reserve for a fight back... a mobile phone playing the theme tune to 'The Great Escape' went off. Cue biggest laugh of the night, and biggest red face of my life... apart from that incident with the llama. ahem. |
