carpet melt

A material that molds to the old floor to cover ugly bad carpet

This idea stems from renting a house with 3" green shag carpet in the living room. I was thinking it would be nice if I could roll out large strips of a stylish material and go over it with a blow dryer and have it mold over the ugly green carpet creating a new flooring. You could continue molding your sections until you had a new, clean surface that would last a decent amount of time, be easy to clean, and be easily removed and replaced when necessary.

It seems ironic that this stuff is designed to go over 3” shag carpeting, but then has to be removed and replaced.

       <every girl's nightmare> An ugly 3" shag, lying on the floor. </egn>

Since you've already called this carpet melt, you could try ironing the whole floor. You may want to borrow a respirator from your local fire department first though.
