I lost my computer to a blizard. I was away from home and my computer stayed on. It burnt. I bought a new one, this time with a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) to protect it. And then it hit me: the hardware known as power supply can have the abilities to maintaine the power as a UPS does, and save space and cost and, ofcourse, the computer itself.

Everything functions in this sort of manner if you think about it in the right way.

There was a company a few years ago that baked this, but it never really caught on. Maybe the battery technology wasn't quite there yet, or maybe it was the fact that you'd still need an external UPS for the screen and other peripherals.

This idea could fly with the home built PC croud, but PC manufacturers would never use it. PC manufacturers try to cram their parts into the smallest case they can find. They often have custom power supplies made because the standard power supply is too big. A power supply with a built in UPS would be huge.
